Global Affairs Canada Tariff Preference Level

Martket is registered with Global Affairs Canada under the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) and participates in the Tariff Preference Level (TPL) program administered under the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

The TPL program allows eligible quantities of certain cotton or man-made fibre fabrics and made-up textile goods manufactured in Canada to qualify for preferential tariff treatment when exported to the United States, even when some of the materials used do not meet CUSMA’s standard rules of origin.

Tariff Preference Levels provide a defined exception for qualifying non-originating textile goods. Eligible products may include certain fabrics and made-up goods that are woven, knitted, finished, cut, sewn, or otherwise assembled in Canada using yarns, fibres, or fabrics sourced from outside the CUSMA territories. Product eligibility and annual allocation limits are established by Global Affairs Canada under CUSMA and Canada’s Export and Import Permits Act.

As a registered participant, Martket can apply for shipment-specific Certificates of Eligibility for qualifying exports. These certificates allow eligible shipments to receive the applicable preferential tariff treatment when entering the United States, subject to annual program limits and all applicable requirements.
